When shipping a vehicle to Australia there are some procedures you must follow:
1. An Import Approval letter must be obtained from DOTARS before shipping. We can process this for you if needed. $50 plus processing. This letter determines how your vehicle enters Australia such as personal import, over 15 years old or the RAWS scheme. See www.dotars.gov.au
2. A de-gassing certificate for R12 air conditioner gas is required for cars with air conditioners. This must be obtained before packing & we can also take care of this. Usually US$120 to US$180 . R12 gas is not permitted in Australia.
3. All vehicles must be free of any dirt , plant matter or insects. If not additional quarantine charges may occur.
4. All vehicles will incur taxes ( GST ) with some incurring duties, this will depend on the vehicle make & build date. Passenger Vehicles less then 30 years old will incur Customs duty at 15% + GST at 10% . Passenger vehicles 30 years & older will incur 10% GST no Customs duty. All commercial vehicles will incur 5% customs duty + 10% GST. Motor Bikes & boats incur 10% GST only. All motor homes will incur 15% Customs duty + 10% GST. This must be paid immediately upon receipt of invoice via bank transfer. A Luxury tax is applied to all vehicles except motorbikes over $57009.00. Shipping rates are all inclusive including Document processing, Port charges, Packing & unpacking, Container cartage, Clearances., One time fumigation & Fuel levy.
All extra quarantine & cleaning if needed are additional and are charged as invoiced by quarantine.
Other additional cost will be R12 de gassing if required.
Land transportation for your vehicle from the purchase destination to our depot in LA California is quoted upon request.
Containers can not be unpacked until all required paper work is submitted. Vehicles & goods can not be collected until all fees for customs, clearance & quarantine are paid in full via cash or bank transfer upon receipt of invoice.
Any additional costs such as bond storage etc incurred due to late payment will be passed on to the customer concerned.
All customers will take full responsibility for the contents of the vehicle or parts they are shipping & ensure that there is no contraband, illegal substances or any other matter not permitted in Australia packed within them.
